How many elderly people have been recommended to go on a low sodium diet or restriction? Yet, it that good advice. Here is the reasoning for the low salt diets. Doctors see increase cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood work up and one of their recommendations is to lower the salt intake but the truth is that low salt in the diet is what caused the cholesterol and triglycerides to show up in the blood work up at above normal level. Sodium can not be stored, as it is tightly regulated by the body, so no matter how much is in the diet, the excess will be excreted.
